Caity and the Mist

It was early one winter morning
When the phone began to ring
And Caity scuffled helplessly
To dismiss what it would bring
A worry that had a dance
At a moderate tip-toe prance
That melted hearts at a glance
The news became very clear
That her love may never be near
But her eyes filled with tears
And her heart longed at all her fears
She hung up the phone and climbed
Upon the railing of the window
To try and rest her mind

Gazing into the sky
She thought back to a time
When her mother used to tell her
That what she had was unlike any kind
One day chance would align
And it would reveal itself
At the right place and time

Suddenly a warm feeling wrapped round her body
Like blankets that her grandmother quilted
She lifted the window and the stepped on to the fire escape
That held her high
At one hundred feet, standing straight

(chorus)
Caity lunged out into the sky
Soaring above the chimneys and people
She knew this was her chance
And all of her questions were clear at last
Just before she began to fall
She had two wings lifting her above the steeples
Now chance had aligned
It was very clear that this was her time
Very clear that this was her time
100 miles behind at height of 1000 ft
The wind pushed from side to side
And started to violently screech
And up, up ahead the sun became pale
The clouds steamed a purple mist in the sky
And I tried to weaken her heart
With a spell

With gravity as her enemy and hope at her right side
She fought the mist, surrounding her
Just before she started to give
The sun shown and melted the mist
And she flipped through the sky
In a tangled like twist

(chorus)
Caity and her secret flew over the land
To where her fate was leading
Once again she was home with her love
And the weight of her heart was lifted
Her heart was lifted
